“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” ―Dr. Seuss
Twitter
Twitter is one of my personal favourites when it comes to finding interesting things to read. The interesting things I have come across on this platform because of serendipity or its algorithm is just amazing.
Well unlike me you don’t have to rely on luck to find interesting things to read. You can use its powerful advanced keyword search feature. You can find someone who has talked about any topic you’re interested in just minutes or hours ago. Also, hashtags are very helpful. So, if you follow your curiosity, you’ll find a treasure trove of interesting things to read.
Reddit
On Reddit, you can find subreddits that cater to your interests, whether it’s psychology, reading, movie buzz, weird anthologies, sci-fi, or human quirks. It’s incredible how much people are curious about and how many answers they have for that one question.
Some of the subreddits you can start with are:
r/UnresolvedMysteries — a subreddit for discussing and solving mysteries from around the world, from unsolved crimes to unexplained events.
r/WhatIsThisThing — a subreddit where people can post pictures of mysterious objects they have found and the community will try to identify them.
r/InternetIsBeautiful — a subreddit dedicated to sharing interesting and beautiful webr/InternetIsBeautifulsites from around the web.
r/CasualConversation — a subreddit where people can have casual conversations about anything and everything without fear of judgment.
The Marginalian
Maria Popova is the person behind The Marginlian.
I’m continually fascinated by people like Maria who have consumed, curated, and created countless things. She has spent so much time diving into historical content that she says, “Most of my friends are dead people.”
The Marginalian is a great source of inspiration for those looking to explore new ideas and perspectives like combinational creativity, presence over productivity and a lot more.
Farnam Street
Farnam Street is a great place to find timeless lessons and insights that help you think better, learn faster, and make smart decisions. They cover most of the mental models you see floating on the internet in a very insightful manner. What I love the most about Farnam Street is that it’s super crisp and chooses to write blogs instead of writing self-help books with unnecessary jargon.
They also have an amazing newsletter called “brain food.”
Aeon
Aeon is an amalgamation of ideas and culture. They cover topics from science and technology to philosophy & culture. Sometimes you would find some weird ass articles and be like what the fuck am I reading, but in a good way.
Nautilus
I am absolutely in love with Nautilus. It’s a science magazine that explores science, culture, and philosophy in a mindblowing way. I don’t care whether you check out the rest or not but if you don’t check this one out. You are going to miss out on a big time.
The Millions
The Millions is a great place to find underrated book recommendations. Sometimes you just scroll through the website, and you’ll find some great books you’ve never heard of before.
The Pudding
Your insatiable curiosity and that urge to deep dive into a rabbit hole with quirky topics would be fulfilled here.
Atlas Obscura
Atlas Obscura celebrates the world’s strangest, most curious, and most wondrous places. It’s a great source of inspiration for travellers, and the articles and essays often delve into fascinating historical and cultural details.
Well, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the vast amount of information available on the internet, there are plenty of places where you can find interesting and insightful things to read, experiment & grow. So, follow your curiosity and let your mind run wild. And, as always, keep on reading!
